Event 1 - Monday 3rd August 2015
Instructors, Jerry Summers, Nic Vaughan. Introduction to 420 tuning and setup for different weather conditions. Land drills including trapeze. SW F4/5, X2 420's used off silversands, coach crews and 2nd crew observing from the RIBs. Regular crew changes developing crew position and equipment efficiency
Event 2 - Tuesday 4th August 2015
Instructors, Jerry Summers, Nic Vaughan. AM theory sessions including video de-brief of previous day. Concentrated on boat trim and crew positions, headers / lifters, best course upwind and mark rounding. PM sailing session SW F5/6 single hander sailing off club house, followed by X2 420's Area B in the harbour, planing speeds, coach, video crews with regular changes.
Event 3 - Wednesday 5th August 2015
Instructors, Jerry Summers, Nic Vaughan. AM video de-briefs and critic of previous day. Theory inputs including sail shapes, 420 workbook videos, Match race V Handicap racing, VMG and shortest course. More land drills. PM Sailing, SE 3/4 slalom reach to reach, windward leeward course with X2 broad reachs. Triangle course setup for multiple races on 2 min starts. Develop wind awareness, shifts, crew synchro and efficiency, roll tacks/gybes.
Event 4 - Thursday 6th August 2015
Instructors, Jerry Summers, Nic Vaughan. AM Video de-brief & critic of previous day. Theory inputs including spinnakers, symmetric & asymmetric, rules at different points of the course, start lines and best course. Land drills on 420's and Feva's including spinnaker launch, gybes and recoveries. PM sailing, SW F5, stand off a mark & acceleration ex, windward leeward ex with gates and spinnaker flying. Close proximity racing developing efficiency and tactics.
Event 5 - Friday 7th August 2015
Instructors, Jerry Summers, Nic Vaughan. AM video de-brief of previous day. Theory inputs including PY & calculation for handicap. Dry drills spinnakers and trapeze. SW F2/3 PM sailing X2 420's X2 RS Feva's on XL sails. Windward / Leeward with gates, flying spinnakers, roll tacks & gybes. Gut buster ex. Races on various courses with 2 min starts flying spinnakers & trapezing where appropriate. X4 Performance sailing awarded, X5 Sailing with spinnakers awarded. X4 Start Racing awarded.
