Tow out area D, fig 8 and shallow triangle refresher sail. Return BHYC. lunch ashore. PM Tacking and gybing dry drills, recap 5E's, points of sail, weather forecasts and knots.
Event 2 - Monday 21st August 2017
Instructors Laurence Blackburn and Alex Hicks plus AI's. W, F3, Overcast. AM Theory,, saftey signals, getting out of irons, 5E's, coming alongside, upwind sailing. Tow out area D sail reach to reach, windward leeward sausage, coming alongside. Return to BHYC Lunch, PM Theory, beufort windscale, synoptic charts and weather, knots, telling someone ashore.
Event 3 - Tuesday 22nd August 2017
Instructors Laurence Blackburn and Alex Hicks plus AI's. E or SE, F3-4 Sunny. Prev day videos, theory, coming alongside, picking up a mooring. Lunch ashore. Tow out area D, sail triangle, coming alongside, pick up a mooring, follow my leader, on demand whistle. Return BHYC. PM theory, IRPCS, tides, dangers of hypothermia, how a sail works.
Event 4 - Wednesday 23rd August 2017
Instructors Laurence Blackburn and Alex Hicks plus AI's. W F3-4 Sunny, Recap, 5E's, points of sail and IRPCS. MOB theory. Tow out area D. Sail triangle on all points of sail, use IRPCS rules, come alongside, MOB and follow my leader. Return BHYC. PM Theory, buoyage IALA, hypothermia, rig controls, reefing and mast rake.
Event 5 - Thursday 24th August 2017
Instructors Laurence Blackburn and Alex Hicks plus AI's. W F3 Sunny. AM theory, Knots, Rig setup and tuning plus video, Racing starts and courses, beach landing, windward and leeward shores. Lunch ashore. Tow out to area D. Sail triangle using 5E's, sail settings off tell tales and crew communication. Complete MOB. Races and race starts. Return BHYC, de-brief.
Event 6 - Friday 25th August 2017
Instructors Laurence Blackburn and Alex Hicks plus AI's. F3, ENE veering S, Sunny.AM theory recap, IRPCS, Parts of sail and boat, Bouyage, knots, 5E's, Race starts and courses. Tow out to area D, complete final parts of syllabus, course races. Return BHYC and join in cadet games off pontoons.
